Fall is the season of pumpkin everything. From pumpkin spice lattes to pumpkin patches, and everything else in between, there seems to be no end in sight for the sweet, earthy fall flavour. However, Vancouver just took it to a whole new, perhaps unnecessary level (but we’ll let you be the judge of that), with pumpkin spice spam fries. Yes, you read that right. Pumpkin Spice Spam fries are actually being sold for a limited time.

Vancouver’s Filipino food truck, Shameless Buns, which first started operating back in May 2019, is offering an entire sampler platter of spam fries in different flavours, and their new, limited-edition pumpkin-flavoured deep-fried spam fries are causing some noise in Vancouver’s food scene.

The food truck, which first showcased its eclectic collection of spam fries with a selection of dipping sauces at the Richmond World Festival in August of this year, is now offering pumpkin spice fries for a limited time only for all those brave culinary adventurers out there.

“We really started the business because we saw this real opportunity in the market with regards to Filipino food. Because there’s really not any Filipino food businesses that are kind of fun and trendy and, really accessible for non-Filipino people,” said Matt Brennan, co-owner of Shameless Buns in a phone interview with Narcity.

“It’s definitely a polarizing subject which we fully expected,” said Brennan.

“Some people are loving it. It’s polarizing. Some people think it’s disgusting. Other people think it’s amazing. But you know, it’s actually really tasty!” Brennan continued laughing.

The pumpkin spice spam fries are served with housemade Smokey Maple Mayo and Spicy Shameless Vinegar. You can also try these pumpkin spice spam fries on their own or build your own spam fries platter with any combination of flavours and dipping sauces.

The original spam flavours included Original, Garlic, Bacon, Teriyaki, and Sichuan, served with dipping sauces ranging from housemade Banana Ketchup, Garlic Calamansi Mayo, Sriracha Mayo, Smokey Maple Mayo, or Filipino Spicy Vinegar. Are you brave enough to try pumpkin spice spam fries?
