With Halloween candy hitting grocery store shelves in July, it honestly feels like a miracle we made it this far. But alas, Dunkin’ Donuts pumpkin-flavored coffee is right around the corner.
The Canton-based company announced Monday that the ubiquitous fall flavor will be available at Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide no later than Monday, Aug. 27. The sweetened flavor swirl can be added to any of their hot or iced coffee or espresso beverages.
Dunkin’ Donuts is also bringing back its pumpkin glazed doughnuts, Munchkins, and muffins, as well as pumpkin K-Cup pods and packaged coffee.
But the gourd-inspired flavor isn’t alone in Dunkin’s fall lineup.
Returning by Aug. 27 is the chain’s maple pecan coffee flavor swirl, which debuted for the first time last year. Dunkin’ Donuts describes its taste as “sweet and nutty.”
The company is also trying out some new maple-flavored products, including a maple cream cheese spread and a Belgian waffle breakfast sandwich with maple-sugar bacon, egg, and American cheese.
Various forms of the waffle breakfast sandwich have been an intermittent presence on the chain’s menu over the last decade. In 2016, you could even get a chicken-and-waffle sandwich at some locations. This year’s iteration, however, joins Dunkin’s maple-sugar bacon, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich in the chain’s apparently growing line of syrup-evoking products.
Perhaps the company’s executives have been reading the numerous outlets who have recentlybeen proclaiming maple as the fall flavor trend that, just maybe, could overtake pumpkin spice. Starbucks also debuted a maple pecan latte last year.
Lastly, Dunkin’ Donuts is debuting a new Apple Crisp doughnut by the end of the month. Like a fall-flavored Boston Creme, the doughnut includes an apple filling, caramel icing, and a “crispy sweet oat topping.”
The chain also announced late last month that their $2 snack menu, which includes doughnut fries and waffle-breaded chicken tenders, will be a permanent fixture on the menu for the foreseeable future.
Anyway, Dunkin’ Donuts loyalists have a lot of good options for the post-swimsuit season.
