The ANA InterContinental Tokyo will present Chocolate Sensations 2019 at 10 of its restaurants and bars, and throughout its public spaces, from Oct 1 through Jan 14, 2020. Chocolate Sensations is a multi-sensory adventure, which promises a whole host of completely unique and immersive experiences with chocolate.
Bigger and better than ever, 2019 will see more than 6,000 kg of chocolate, sourced from The Amazon, Colombia, Mexico and many more exotic locations, be hand-crafted into 300 delectable items of confectionary and artistic craftsmanship for everyone to enjoy.
Bespoke chocolate pop-up shops and chocolate-inspired art will set the scene for what will be Tokyo’s biggest celebration of chocolate yet. Sensational chocolate delights will include a decadent chocolate dessert buffet, Secret Garden of Chocolate at The Champagne Bar, which will offer 40 varieties of dessert created from sweet milk chocolate, rich dark chocolate, creamy white chocolate and vibrant ruby chocolate, complemented by 14 savory items. A tasting corner showcasing more than 10 different kinds of chocolate bonbons will add further flavorsome flurry to the buffet experience. Be sure to bring your sweet tooth so that you can savor all of this exciting chocolatey goodness.
Additionally, at the ATRIUM Lounge, a Chocolate Afternoon Tea Set with 15 beautiful petits gateaux and 4 savory items will be served upon a glamorous red afternoon tea stand, while a unique menu will be created at the hotel’s Japanese Restaurant UNKAI, in collaboration with “ca ca o” – a cacao shop based in Kamakura. For visitors who wish to delve deeper into the world of chocolate, the hotel will be presenting 14 innovative workshops and seminars, led by 15 chocolate artisans. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the intricacy within the flavors, scents, textures, and other characteristics of chocolate, as well as being given an insight into ideal chocolate pairings with coffee, wine, sake or cheese.
Passersby can spot the current new trends in the industry with the opportunity to purchase eight popular brands of chocolate, including Janice Wong and Pierre Hermé Paris, at the pop-up stores in the lobby from Oct 1 to Dec 25. A huge attraction from Nov 12-25 , will be a collection of elaborate chocolate sculptures showcasing the playful artistic flair of the brightest chocolatier talent in Japan. This will be displayed in the public area of the hotel, and the winner will be selected by votes from the hotel guests.
Another group exhibition, “Assorted Chocolates”, by 13 artists and an artist-duo, across various artistic disciplines, ranging from traditional lacquer work and itome yuzen dyeing, to sculpture, photography, mixed media, oil painting, graphic design and chalk art, will be on display throughout the festival. The artists, from Art Platform Tokyo, will be showing their original two-dimensional artworks inspired by chocolate.
Chocolate Sensations 2019 aims to ensure that visitors, curious observers, tasters and participants will never think about chocolate in the same way again.
