Ah, summer. My favorite part of summer in Montreal is not the heat, neither is it the ease of throwing on a sundress in the morning, and it’s not even the beautiful greenery and blossoming flowers you can see all around town. It’s even more simple than that. My favorite part of summer is iced coffee.
I know, I know. Lots of places serve iced coffee all year round. But if you enjoy sipping an iced coffee in the frigid -30 cold, then I’m sorry to say, but you’re probably part demon.
Because nothing compares to the feeling of sipping a cold brew in the sweltering heat. And since these coffee beverages are served icy cold they are a lot easier to drink fast than a piping hot cup of drip coffee, and as result, the caffeine buzz hits you way harder. Ziiing.
When I discovered that this Montreal cafe is serving basically the grown-up version of a root beer float, I got giddy with excitement.
Starbucks watch out!
The very cute ‘n cozy Cafe Noble, located on Laurier East, serves up a brilliant twist on the cold brew iced coffee. It’s called a Cold Brew Float, and it looks so awesome.
Simple in its ingredients, but complex in taste and flavor, a Cold Brew float is composed of a base of Cold Brew Coffee – which is coffee that’s been brewed at room temperature or cold water over a 12 to 24-hour period – and topped with a swirl of delectable soft serve vanilla ice cream.
It’s easy to see why this cold caffeinated summer beverage is getting so much face time on Instagram. Unlike some gimmicky “most Instagrammable” drinks we find around town, this Cold Brew Float is a simple and unfussy beverage and I can’t seem to think of anywhere else in Montreal that serves coffee and ice cream quite like this.
