Major Tasks & Duties

  • Manage & coordinate the FSSC 22000 program (already implemented)
  • Prepare technical documentation such as certificates of analysis, specification sheets, questionnaires, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), allergen, GMO, nutritional sheets,… according to customer requests
  • Work as technical support for R&D, sales, QC & customer service

Qualifications

  • University degree in food science or related discipline, and/or equivalent related experience
  • Fluent in both French & English languages
  • Capacity to adapt to various situations
  • Knowledgeable in FSSC22000
  • Detail oriented
  • Multi-tasking capabilities and willingness to learn

Position: Flavourist Technician

Novotaste is looking for bilingual flavour technicians for 4-5 month summer stages in the flavour laboratory.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a BSc. Food Science/food chemistry/nutrition or related discipline
  • Training to be provided, however, previous experience is a strong asset
  • Mandatory requirement of basic laboratory skills (at a minimum)
  • Bilingual (English & French)
  • Comfortable in a team setting as well as interacting with clients/suppliers/superiors
  • Knowledge of the food industry is an asset
  • Autonomous and self motivated
  • Organized, detail-oriented

Major responsibilities/duties:

  • Use of basic laboratory equipment to create flavours
  • Flavour matching – ability to identify the composition of a flavour and reproduce it
  • Flavour creation – a mixture of chemistry and creativity
  • Applications testing – utilizing flavours in various final food applications to determine its compatibility.
  • Assist the senior flavor staff with their projects
  • Ability and willingness to be trained in various quality and laboratory positions within the company (quality departments, essential oil laboratory etc)
  • Use, calibration, and interpretation of analytical equipment: Refractometer, Densimeter, pH meter, GC-FID, GCMS
  • Documentation preparation and report writing
